This Time a Bridesmaid

Putting on a wedding can cost a pretty penny, but what about being IN a wedding? Well, those expenses are enough to keep me up at night, too. In just the next year my husband is in three weddings – all of them destination. That’s an honor you just can’t pass up, so how do you fiscally prepare? The experts at Savvy Sugar give us the 411 in a recent article on this trending topic.

First and foremost: set a budget. Project your expenses and begin saving regularly. It’s much like a vacation, and in our case it is, so squirreling away a few bucks each week adds up and hurts very little. Secondly, evaluate your gift-giving responsibilities. Have you considered a group gift? A donation to a SmartyPig goal? These are a homerun in my book and provide your favorite bride and groom with something they really want and need – not another set of bathroom towels. Lastly, save on accessories by price comparing for tuxes or bridesmaid shoes and borrowing formal wear when you can.

Wishing you a happy (and affordable) wedding season!
