Today we updated our "notifications" section on the site. "Notifications" has now been renamed to "Messages" and we've enhanced our email privacy settings. The enhancements are based on specific feedback from customers over the past 6 months.
Effective today, you can now specify whether you wish to receive standard or detailed emails from SmartyPig.
Select "Standard" and SmartyPig will send you a generic email alerting you to log in to your account to view the important information. Once logged in to your account, click on the "Messages" tab to view the unread message.
Select "Detailed" if you would like to receive the important information in the email itself. For all our current customers, "Detailed" is what you've been receiving from SmartyPig all along.

How about being able to turn off the emails? I don't want an email alerting me to login to my account and look at messages every single time I do something. And I certainly don't want an email every time a transfer is initiated on schedule.

I noticed something else new this month. When adding money, there is a new checkbox that says:
"By checking this box, you agree not to deposit into your SmartyPig Savings Account any funds that were sent to you from outside the United States if those funds were accompanied by instructions directing you to deposit the funds into your SmartyPig Savings Account or any other savings account."
Could you explain why this was added please? It doesn't apply to me, but I'm curious.

Can you give step-by-step directions for accessing that "Message Preferences" pane? I don't see anything relevant under either Messages or Security Settings. Thanks in advance.
Sorry about that. After logging in, click on the EDIT MY PROFILE tab. There you will find the MESSAGING PREFERENCES located toward the bottom of that page.
